Summer Trip #12 - Yellowstone

Are you bored with all of my Summer Trip pictures yet?  Well, this is IT!  The last of our Summer Trip Series - WOO HOO!

Yes, we are finally on to the Yellowstone pictures.  We had a great visit to Yellowstone this year.  We were a little worried, though, because in years past we've had some pretty lousy visits to Yellowstone.  We called it the 'Yellowstone Curse'.  The last time we went, Preston and Keaton were about 4 and 6 and they were sick, sick, sick that whole trip. This year was many, many, many times better than that.

We did a lot of walking, and seeing some really neat natural wonders.  The incredible blue of the springs, and the shooting water of the geysers was all we could hope for.  But we could have done without the rotten egg smell.

This trail took us two hours to walk.  It looped around all over the place.  And it was a really hot day.  I don't know how many miles we covered, but it seemed like a lot.

Winston by a blue pool - we learned that the blue-er the water the hotter the water, like 'boiling instantly' hot.

My favorite were the mud pots.  I like the way they bubble and the plopping sounds they make.   Here's one, with my favorite honey-pot next to it!  He's kind of bubbly and makes funny sounds sometimes too, Hee-Hee!

 We saw lots of buffalo, some elk and FOUR bears while we were there.  Two of the bears were grizzlies, the others were a black bear with her cub.

This grizzly was right next to the road, digging for something.  There were a lot of crazy people getting out of their cars to take pictures of it.  There were even some that were getting their little kids out of the car to go see it.  He was a pretty good sized bear!  Crazy, crazy, crazy people.  Preston snapped this shot from the car as we drove by it.
