Here come the boats!
The week we were on Hanalei they were having canoe races out of Hanalei Bay. We didn't get to see them, but Paul and family got to be there for part of it and got these great pictures. The wooden canoes are really cool looking.

One of the activities that were chosen to do while on Kauai was Kayaking. Paul wanted to Kayak on the open ocean, but he got out-voted. Instead they took a guided kayak tour up the Wailua River to a hiking trail that went up to a remote waterfall.
Their guide had a lot of information to share, and all who went seemed to really enjoy it. He told them about the plant life, the water and history of the Wailua River. They even got to see some old ruins.

Another activity on the list was taking a catamaran ride. This was undoubtably everyone's favorite. Thank you, Paul & Amber, for taking the boys along!

Dolphins!
The kids said they saw spinner dolphins that jump out of the water and spin. They also saw sea turtles, flying fish, a sting-ray and jelly fish.

Yes, the water really is that blue - and clear as can be. You can see the sea floor, many feet down, from the boat.
