We had a free Saturday afternoon, so we called up Nels and Rachel to see if they would like some drop-in company for a couple of hours. They were up for it, so we hopped into the car and took a day trip. We got to see their new house (which is very nice and very big) and we went to the beach on the lake.
It was so nice to sit by the water and watch the kids play. We've had quite a bit of smoke from area fires near our home, so it was nice to come north to get away from the worst of it. The sky was still a bit hazy, but not as bad as it is at our house.
The kids had a blast playing in the water
and building sandcastles and sand volcanos.
Winston, Hazel and Lilie did some swimming.
Elsie, Violet and Clara enjoyed wading in the shallow water.
I was having a hard time getting them to face the camera.
We had a really nice visit with Rachel and Nels. We came to the conclusion that when we have a million dollars we'll have to go halves and buy a boat.
Elsie getting sand for her sandcastle.
Clara's sandy toes.
The kids also had fun feeding the seagulls grapes and chips. They had quite a flock waiting around hoping for some snacks.
As we were getting ready to come home after the lake, the kids begged to get more play time. So we went back to their house and had Pizza & watermelon for dinner. The kids had fun running around and building 'houses'. Winston was 'farmer Winston' and he pushed a wheelbarrow around for his truck. Hazel was a witch and Lilie could turn into any animal she wanted to. Violet lived in a barrel and Elsie lived on the trampoline for her home. Then Nels got out the marshmallow guns.
All I can say is that it's all fun and games until someone steps in poo!
(Ahem... Tom)
Thanks for the GREAT time Nels and Rachel.
We'll have to do it again soon!

It was SO fabulous to have you come! Thank you so much for taking the time. Your mom said she and your dad might travel up in a couple weeks, we'll have to see how we can all meet up again if they do!
